Plague ahoy!

Just to rub it in, this virus that has been lingering in the kiddo, has now brought new experiences with kiddos first ever ear infection. Horrible times were had, lots of painkillers and tears. Kiddo is gutted as she has missed out on quite a few piano lessons now for being off school, and it's not helping that the asshat of the house says that she needs to go to her lesson or then someone else deserves her place. WTF? I had to really hold myself down for not smacking him with something. I'm sure if getting sick would be a choice, noone would do it. Dear lord, the stupid.

Well in between the sleeplessness, downing all the coffee and administrating painkillers, I managed to paint a bureau lid with blackboard paint, so now she can be messy on furniture with a permission.
A pile of cards I made a while back

Feresi, a Karelian dress, traditional style
 Cheapskate gardening....
Cheapskate crafts, all the leftover scrap fabric into a little basket
 Bureau with blackboard/magnetic paint
Shitty strawberry nails, bored morning...

Cheapskate gardening is my favourite hobby! I have fuck all money to spend, so scraping something nice together from poundshop shit and other recycled tat is much more interesting to do than walking into a garden centre and throwing a fuckton of money at some posh plants that probably dislike the shitty climate anyway. Got the logs from my neighbour, used some old shed paint I had, and crocheted some little bum covers from old clothes.....

Right, get my shit together and ready for bed, I'm knackered and have to prepare myself for the possibility of yet another night of meds dispensing......

Ikea fabrics

I fucking love them. Ikea is heaven, and of course the nearest one from me is miles away, I mean, 2,5 hours of driving-away.  So I had my lovely friend over who spoiled us with some very kawaii South Korean goods a few weeks back, brought me a little goody bag from Ikea, so I decided to crack on with a project that had haunted my scatterbrain mind for a while. A spring coat. With colour....
 All the CUTE!
My spring coat. Two different Ikea fabrics mixed in

In action.

The lining is made from old bedding, the zip is ancient vintage one, probably first needing a fix, but the coat is so cosy, surprisingly warm, and just all in all I'm very chuffed with it.

Now, better get ready for bed and relax, before I get to tend to the poorly kiddo again, the fecking virus has now made it's way to the ear. Fucking fuckety fuck.

'tis the time to.....

So, been a while. Crafting, teaching the lil'un to sew, and watching shit christmas movies seem to be the thing for me at the moment.
I'm quite homesick too, which is making the mehs.
There's been windy but pretty evenings....
Made myself a little elf hat....
 And a dress for lil'un
Went ice skating, next time will have acquire my own skates, these rented ones were horrible!
 Some decoration for the backyard....
Reflector brooch as a xmas pressie
 Some scrap crafting...
Learning....
Dogs need reflective vests too!
Played with my camera, thinking about getting a lens set for it, as it is good, even though it's old.....

Winter Urgh

Well it's been quiet. It has been the season of mehs, fever and general crap. Working still on my cro(t)chet scarf, thin yarn and smallish hook is making it take an eternity. Alongside I'm doing the usual xmassy shit too. Did some no-budget crafting on halloween, and now it continues with xmas things.
As it tends to piss it down here a lot, made a raincover from an old pram cover for little ones school bag.
Also whipped up a fleece jacket from old blankets. Not perfect but cosy enough.
Same fabrics made a nice wrap up fleece. Currently obsessed with the wrap around model, but really struggle to find hoodies so better make it myself then.
 Some cheapo halloween crafts
These are still above my door. Some colour into the shit winter.
My ofrenda, mixed in with Karelian things and mexi-inspiration.
Mase a little light wreath for the window, as it is dark.....
And reflectors!!!! Best way to go too, some schnauzering....
Got this beauty from ebay, sent from America, Finnish vintage design, Kalevala jewellery. Me likey alot!!!!!

Bonfire night sparkles...
Poundshop crafts, a little wreath for the door, soon it's time... :D

I was chuffed to get the Kalevala piece, as I do like their jewellery, have some already, and this one is based on a find from Karelia I believe, so nothing better than historical background too.

Also very pleased, my local health shop seems to stock Village Bakery Rye bread, so that is bonus, fed up with british "brown" bread.

Nothing else of interest is going on. I spend my evenings crafting and watching either Geordie Shore or Family Guy. I know, one fucking classy chick, but who cares.....

Quick crafts....

I have been crafting, can't seem to stick to one thing though, so a bit random.... I have also been watching Geordie Shore. I'm still not sure why. I think it's so shit, that it becomes good. Similar to VH1 shows few years back, Rock of Love and Flavor of Love. Seriously. Those were definitely some of the best reality shows I have watched, as they are full of unbelievably psychotic loonies.
I've kept myself out of political discussions too, as I cannot fathom how people can't accept the concept of freedom of thought. I don't agree with a lot of things with the majority of people, but I just blame it on their stupidity ;) , but I let them think what they want. It is their opinions. Opinions are like assholes, everybodys got one.
A cheap shirt got a little DDLM- makeover....

Made a kimonosleeve tunic from stretch satin
Fixed a new zipper to my bargain vintage dress, 2 euros it cost me....
Anglerfish hama...
 Brain slug hama
Dr. Zoidberg...

Went to a techfest in the Oceanlab here, it was very good, deep sea creatures are more fascinating than people. Now I have a terrible urge to try make an anglerfish hat for myself. It's my poweranimal, you can keep your eagles and wolves :D
Back to more crafting......

craft fail

Tuesday is the new Monday. First cutting patterns, and it didn't feel right....
Cutting fabrics, I was starting to doubt whether the fabric isn't sturdy enogh for my project...
Well FUCK ME, my gut instinct was right. first I was putting the pieces together, while watching the OZ, and the bloody scart went funny, so turned it off. Crafting without OZ just isn't the same. Then I get trouble from the overlocker....Finally putting the last seam together, and I notice a huge chunk of fabric from the back has been caught under the presser foot, thus sewn in. That's when I decided to step away from the fail, and do something else. Tomorrow, fire up the OZ, coffee and see if I can fix the grand screw ups somehow.......Fuckety fucking fuck.

Passion for rags....

Right, this still isn't a fashion blog. I'm not into fashion, nor do I follow it. I buy shit that I like the look of, if I can afford it. You won't catch me paying 200 quid for a fucking t-shirt though....
My passion is clothes. They are a form of self expression, and using colours and patterns to reflect and lift my mood. I love the slightly camp and the tacky, hawaiian and tropical prints are always go, leopard never fades either!
I trawl through second hand markets, charity shops and boot sales and buy pretty things. Optimally my home would have lots of storage space, and a room for crafts. At the moment it has neither of them, so it looks horrendous.
This time, I have a pile of pics of bargain finds, and also my sewing frenzy I had last week....
Here we go....
Some skirts a whipped up for le child from scraps.
Two of the same skirt, the other one got a new home in another girls wardrobe.
 My fashionable assistant
I bought some tropical fabric and made it into a dress for warm weather..
This was originally a full dress, and fucking tiny, so I bought it (2€), cut it up ....
and added a stretchy panel to accommodate my ass.
Primark find, rarely I pay full price, but this just couldn't be passed....
My anti-depressant bag... Charity find £3
Pretty summer frock with embroidery and sequins £1..
Lovely duvet cover, I think it would make a nice skirt or trousers if I don't use it as bedding....
Got a pencil skirt, was too tight for my buttocks, so made little sidepanels from another skirt...
T-shirt that was small enough to fit my kid, butchered and added another tee to bring length...
Same with this one, pink fabric was bought years ago, never got around making it into anything...
Cute details... :)

That's it for now. More to come soon...
